Sudurpaschim Royals Storm Into NPL T20 Final for Second Consecutive Year

Kathmandu: Sudurpaschim Royals have secured their place in the final of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) T20 cricket for the second year in a row, clinching a dominant 77-run victory over Biratnagar Kings in the first qualifier on Tuesday.
Biratnagar Collapse in Run Chase
Chasing a target of 156 runs, Biratnagar Kings produced a disappointing batting display, getting bowled out for just 78 runs in 14 overs. Their innings crumbled early, losing three wickets within the second over.
Faf du Plessis was the lone fighter, scoring 36 runs off 29 balls. For Sudurpaschim, Harmit Singh, Scott Kuggeleijn, and Avinash Bohra each claimed two wickets, dismantling the Biratnagar lineup with ease.
Sudurpaschim Post Competitive Total
Earlier, put into bat after losing the toss, Sudurpaschim Royals posted 155 for 7 wickets. Opener Binod Bhandari anchored the innings with a composed 63 off 52 balls, marking a crucial half-century.
Sheldon Jackson and Arif Sheikh supported the total with 20 runs each, while Merchant de Lange and Pratish GC picked up two wickets apiece for Biratnagar.
Path Ahead: Biratnagar Get Second Chance
As table-toppers, Sudurpaschim entered the qualifier with an advantage and made the most of it. Despite the loss, Biratnagar Kings still have a second opportunity to reach the final. They will face the winner of the Eliminator match on Thursday.
The Eliminator, scheduled for Wednesday, will feature a clash between the Lumbini Lions and Kathmandu Gorkhaz.
